Roxi™, the AI engine powering Giatec’s SmartMix™ platform, is recognized after surpassing 100 million cubic yards of real-world concrete data analyzed worldwide.
OTTAWA, ON, October 6, 2026 – Giatec, a global leader in digital concrete technology platforms, today announced it has won Best Use of Automation or AI at the 2026 Building Innovation Awards UK. The award recognizes Roxi™, the AI engine behind Giatec’s SmartMix™ platform, for its role in helping ready-mix producers cut cement use, reduce costs, and lower carbon emissions at scale.
Roxi is the first AI program built exclusively for the concrete industry, developed with backing from the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA) and Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC). Now trained on more than 100 million cubic yards of real-world data spanning over 300,000 mix designs across 1,500 plants in 20 countries, Roxi draws on real-time inputs from SmartRock® sensors at the jobsite, MixPilot™ sensors in transit, and SmartMix at the plant to detect quality variability before it becomes a costly problem.
The results are measurable. Tomlinson Ready Mix reduced cement use by 8.8% and overall costs by 5% through Roxi-guided adjustments, and Roxi-optimized mixes consistently cut CO₂ footprints by up to 20% compared to NRMCA benchmark formulations for equivalent strength classes. Giatec’s technology has already contributed to 2.5 million tons of carbon emissions reduced, according to a 2025 Microsoft customer case study.
