“Plant of the Future” session headlines two-day industry event focused on connected technologies and AI

OTTAWA, ON – Giatec®, global leader in digital concrete technology platforms, successfully hosted its 2nd Annual Concrete Technology Summit at its Ottawa headquarters, from May 13th–15th. In partnership with Tomlinson Ready Mix, the event welcomed industry professionals, innovators, and partners from across North America to explore emerging technologies and trends transforming the concrete and construction sectors.

Kickstarting the summit was the “Plant of the Future” reveal, co-presented by Aali Alizadeh, CTO and Co-founder of Giatec, Francis Brazeau, Vice President of Tomlinson Ready Mix, and Scott Anderson, President of CiDRA Concrete Systems, Inc. This session showcased a fully integrated vision for next-generation concrete production, driven by smart sensors, real-time data, and AI-powered decision-making.

“The genius behind the Plant of the Future is that by connecting all of these new technologies in one place, on the backbone of Roxi™, the industry’s most powerful AI algorithm, brings an unprecedented visibility that wasn’t possible in the past. This makes it so users like contractors and stakeholders can make better informed decisions, reliably and confidently,” said Aali Alizadeh. “And at the end of the day, this not only improves their bottom line from production to placement, but we believe that we can achieve a significant CO₂ reduction, a 20% reduction of concrete’s global impact, if we all work together.”

The summit attendees participated in a dynamic agenda that included keynote presentations, product demos, and panel discussions like:

  • AI-Powered Logistics with INFORM GmbH
  • Labour Trends and Driver Engagement by Concrete Careers and Rocket Start
  • Sustainability Innovations with alterBiota’s real-time aggregate testing
  • Concrete Testing Optimization
  • Giatec’s Roxi and MixPilot™ Product Demonstrations
  • Cybersecurity for Connected Construction

Tours of both Giatec’s and Tomlinson’s facilities gave guests a behind-the-scenes look at how intelligent infrastructure is revolutionizing day-to-day operations in ready-mix environments.

“We are excited to sponsor the Concrete Tech Summit hosted by Giatec at The CORE [the Tomlison’s headquarters]. This event underscores our commitment to innovation and sustainability in the ready-mix industry,” says Francis Brazeau, Vice President of Tomlinson Ready Mix. “Technologies like MixPilot, SmartMix™, and SmartRock® are key to enhancing our operations and promoting industry best practices. The summit is a fantastic opportunity for networking and collaboration with industry leaders across North America as we tackle the challenges of tomorrow.”

Attendees connected with representatives from leading tech partners and event sponsors who shared practical applications for digital transformation across the ready-mix ecosystem. Concrete Technology Summit sponsors include Concrete Careers, Digital Fleet, CiDRA Concrete Systems, INFORM GmbH, BCMI Corp, Rocket Start, and alterBiota. Their support and leadership in technology and innovation are helping drive the industry toward a smarter, more sustainable future.
