Andrew Fahim
M.Sc.E. | Manager, Research and Development
Andrew Fahim is Manager, Research and Development at Giatec Scientific Inc. Among numerous scholarships, he was awarded the Ketchum Memorial Medal by the University of New Brunswick in 2016 for graduating with the highest standing in Civil Engineering.
Andrew’s research interests include non-destructive testing, electrochemical corrosion monitoring, multiscale multiphysics numerical modeling, mass transport, and materials characterization and testing. He has also carried out various research projects on the evaluation of supplementary cementing materials and alternative binders, corrosion of reinforcing steel, and other concrete degradation mechanisms (including alkali-aggregate reactions, sulfate attack, and freeze-thaw damage).
His graduate studies focused on corrosion-monitoring methods and mitigation strategies. His work contributed to the understanding of corrosion resistance in concrete exposed to a marine environment and facilitated in predicting the performance of corrosion-resistant reinforcements exposed to chlorides. His extensive work advanced the understanding of corrosion-monitoring techniques and provided guidelines for their use in laboratory and field applications.
