Giatec’s Roxi™ Named Finalist in 2025 Building Innovation Awards for Best Use of AI

AI-driven SmartMix™ platform, powered by Roxi™, recognized for optimizing concrete mixes and enabling cost savings,  cement reduction, and up to 20% lower CO₂ emissions in sustainable construction.

Giatec®, global leader in digital concrete technology platforms, is excited to announce it has been named a finalist for the 2025 Building Innovation Awards in the category of “Best Use of Automation or AI”. This recognition highlights Giatec’s pioneering artificial intelligence Roxi™ and its impact on concrete mix optimization and sustainable construction. Notably, the Best Use of Automation or AI category saw a record number of entrants this year, making Giatec’s shortlisting an especially significant honor.

Roxi™, the world’s first AI engine built specifically for concrete testing, lies at the core of Giatec’s ecosystem. Roxi analyzes real-time data from concrete operations to help producers design better mixes, reduce cement usage, and make faster, more informed decisions. By integrating Roxi’s machine learning insights into the SmartMix software platform, Giatec has created a first-of-its-kind solution that automates concrete mix design adjustments in real time. This innovation tackles the industry’s longstanding challenge of “overdesigning” concrete with excess cement, empowering producers to achieve required strengths with less material. Given that cement production accounts for about 8% of global CO₂ emissions, SmartMix’s ability to optimize mixes has important environmental and economic implications.

“Innovation in the concrete industry is long overdue, and being shortlisted for this award is a testament to the impact our AI-driven approach is making,” said Dr. Aali Alizadeh, Co-Founder and CTO of Giatec. “We developed Roxi to help the construction sector overcome traditional inefficiencies and reduce its environmental footprint. It’s an honor to be recognized, and it highlights how our technology is enabling more sustainable, cost-effective concrete practices, ultimately contributing to a greener, smarter future for construction.”

The Building Innovation Awards, which take place on 30 September 2025 in Birmingham, UK, celebrate the technologies and approaches driving digital transformation and decarbonization in the built environment. Giatec’s inclusion as a finalist aligns with the UK construction sector’s push toward greener and smarter building methods. As UK initiatives encourage reduced emissions and greater use of digital tools on projects, Giatec’s SmartMix exemplifies how artificial intelligence can help achieve these objectives, enabling concrete producers to improve quality and productivity while contributing to net-zero goals in construction.
