Falling concrete in Chicago raises safety issues
Last week, GK Fu, an engineering professor, inspected the Lake Shore Drive overpass over Grand Avenue in Chicago after having learned that concrete had fallen from it.
In his opinion, the whole overpass needed to be replaced. This week, more concrete fell, injuring a woman below. "We’re always concerned, and particularly on Lake Shore Drive, where you have this volume of traffic. So, we’re going to be ramping up assessments of this type throughout the spring season," said Commissioner Gabe Klein of CDOT.
